FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you approach process automation without breaking existing operations?+
We always start with process mapping before any automation. This means interviewing process owners, documenting current state (including edge cases), identifying failure points, and building the target state process collaboratively. We pilot with a subset of volume first, running the automation in parallel with the manual process until we're confident in the output quality. Zero big-bang cutover.
What's the difference between business process automation and RPA?+
RPA (Robotic Process Automation) mimics human actions in UIs — it's brittle, expensive to maintain, and fails when UIs change. Business process automation works at the data and API layer — it's more robust, faster, and cheaper to maintain. We use RPA only as a last resort for legacy systems that have no API. For everything else, we build proper integrations.
How do you handle exceptions and edge cases?+
Every automated process we build has defined exception handling: records that fall outside the automation's confidence threshold are routed to a human review queue with full context. We build exception dashboards, track exception rates, and continuously refine the automation to handle more cases over time. The goal is 95%+ straight-through processing within 60 days of go-live.
How long does business process automation take to deliver ROI?+
Most of our clients see positive ROI within 3–6 months. A single process automation (e.g., invoice processing) typically saves 20–40 hours per week of manual work. At $25–50/hour fully loaded cost, that's $26,000–$104,000 per year in savings — against a build cost of $8,000–$20,000. Payback in weeks, not years.
What does business process automation cost?+
A single process automation (one workflow, one department) starts at $5,000–$12,000. A multi-process automation covering a department end-to-end runs $20,000–$50,000. Enterprise-wide process automation programs with multiple departments, systems, and governance structures start at $50,000.
